Maja Fredin, born in Uppsala in 1992 and is currently based in Stockholm. She studied at institutions such as Nyckelviksskolan, Handarbetes Vänner, and Konstfack, where she most recently completed her Master’s degree in Textile Art in 2022.Blending humor, excess, and a kitsch aesthetic, she draws on references to consumer culture, food, body image, and physical decay to construct situations that oscillate between irony and discomfort. Her practice turns this tension into a space for critically observing the desires, norms, and contradictions that shape contemporary societies. In 2023, she was awarded the Maria Bonnier Dahlin Foundation grant for young artists and has since exhibited at institutions including KiN –Konstmuseet i Norr, Diö Konsthall, Uppsala Art Museum, and NorrtäljeArt Hall. This year, 2026, she is participating in Jeune Création Internationale – the Lyon Biennale – with the project titled "Broiler".
