Karin Keisu & Josse Thuresson

Artists

a.k.a / part of

Karin Keisu & Josse Thuresson

Working across video, performance, text, and sculpture, Karin Keisu and Josse Thuresson’s practice explores Sweden's colonial history, the politics of language, and the lived experiences of minoritized communities through their respective first languages, Meänkieli and Swedish Sign Language. Their artistic practice articulates the power of existing at the margins; insisting on queerness, opacity, gaps, silences, poetry, contradiction, playfulness and, at times, beauty salons.Keisu (b.1995) was born in Juoksengi, Sweden, and Thuresson (b.1992) in Stockholm, Sweden. They hold a master’s degree in Fine Art from Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design and their work has been exhibited internationally. In 2024, they were artists in residence at IASPIS in Stockholm. They live and work between Stockholm and Tornedalen.
